Students rights and responsibilities

Once enrolled, students must:
• make every effort to understand the course material;
• to attend all classes and arrive no later than 8:30 AM;
• to participate in extracurricular events organized by the School;
• to notify the instructor or academic coordinator regarding absences;
• to make up work missed due to absence;
• to work independently on homework;
• not submit plagiarized material. A work can be classified as plagiarized if it was written by other students or colleagues, uses material from books or other publications without citation or uses Internet material without indicating the source;
• meet deadlines for submitting papers;
• treat instructors and classmates with respect;
• follow the Journalists Code of Ethics when communicating with sources and the general public;
• maintain school equipment, including computers, cameras, video cameras and dictating.

Students also have the right:
• to be treated with respect;
• to expect the instructors to use their time efficiently and professionally;
• to request and receive grades / assessments for each work done for the course and to receive explanations of those grades
• to meet with the instructors, the school coordinator outside the classroom for additional help or support;
• to use school equipment in the educational process;
• to benefit from the school library books, including the library and the Centre for Independent Journalism, the host organization of the school;
