Nine media institutions are benefiting from the assistance of students of Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism who are doing their internships in the period May 25 – June 19. Until now students have written and broadcasted tens of materials working in editorial teams with experienced journalists.
The internship gives to students the possibility to test their capacities to work within media institutions of their choice. For most of them these four weeks spent in an editorial team of a media outlet is the testing stage before the employment.
The young journalists have been placed within the media outlets of their choice and according to the offer that came from media institutions. Most of students expressed their preference for electronic (audio and video) media. Therefore, seven students of the Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism test their knowledge as interns at ProTV, TV7 and Jurnal TV, while others three students are currently applying their knowledge at Radio Free Europe. Four students have chosen to write articles for Ziarul de Gardă, Business Expert and Мoldavskie Vедомosti. Two students have chosen to do their internship at news agencies Infotag and Deca Press.
After internship, the School of Advanced Journalism will organize the Career Days, where the directors of newspapers, TV and Radio stations will present their job offer and the conditions of employment. The final event of the 2008/2009 academic year will be the graduation ceremony that will be held on the 26th June at Soroca. During the ceremony students will receive their Diplomas and will visit media institutions from this region. Beside students, trainers and partners of Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism will attend the ceremony.
The School of Advanced Journalism was launched on the 4th of September 2006 with the purpose of training “universal journalists” for the mass media from the Republic Of Moldova. The School is a project implemented in common with partner institutions: the Independent Journalism Center from Chisinau, Missouri School of Journalism, USA, and Center for Journalism Training from Paris, France. The project is financially supported by MATRA Programme of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is implemented with the help of Press Now.
